Let's be honest: regression manhwa are a dime a dozen right now. Usually, the MC dies, wakes up in the body of a spoiled noble with infinite wealth, and just buys their way to the top. The story kicks off with brutal betrayal. After seeing his teammates slaughtered, the MC fights his own master over a grimoire, dies in the process, and regresses. But instead of returning to a life of luxury, he wakes up as a literal street orphan. I’ve read up to chapter 39, and while the pacing is solid and the academy arc keeps things engaging, it definitely has some glaring flaws holding it back from being a masterpiece. Here is my full breakdown.

🔥 The Good: What Actually Works

The Orphan Grind: Starting with absolutely nothing adds a layer of grit and realism. His past-life experience makes him highly strategic, rather than just relying on brute force.
Heavy Foreshadowing: The author sets up some great future stakes. The idea that a current healer is destined to become a monster-level mage in the future is a fantastic hook.
The Academy Setting: It’s a classic trope for a reason. It gives the story much-needed structure and sets clear benchmarks for the MC's growth.

👥 The Side Characters (So Far)

If there is one major weak point right now, it’s the supporting cast. They feel more like plot devices than fully fleshed-out people.

Dekulan: Currently a healer in the present timeline, but heavily hinted to become an absolute monster of a mage later on. He has massive potential, but desperately needs more screen time and emotional development.
Chenbi: A commoner student the MC meets at the magic academy. He represents the "normal" perspective to ground the reader, but right now, he completely lacks depth. He feels like a background NPC.
Dahlia: A girl from a powerful mage family whom the MC knew in his past life. She has great potential for emotional connection and high-stakes drama, but her role is still way too limited.
The Principal: Your standard, generic authority figure. He could become much more interesting if the author gives him hidden motives or darker political ties.
